Dearest Dagny,
I can’t believe in three short months you are turning two years old. My goodness, how time is flying by. It seems like this month you have grown so much, both physically and mentally. You seem so much bigger. We go back to Dr. P next month, I can’t wait to get your new stats.
So here are some highlights of your 20th month.
Daddy and I wanted to start you in day care once we felt that you have fully bonded with us. There is no doubt in my mind that you love us as much as we love you. This is the reason your Daddy and I decided that I should take off from work this year to establish the bond of parent to child. I am so grateful for this time we have spent together. I love being around you ALL the time. You are such a fun child.
This week you started day care and you love it. You love being around children. Whenever we are out and about and you see a child your eyes light up and you go right over. We knew from the very beginning we will need to send you to day care even if it was for this reason alone. But, we also want you around kids your own age to socialize with. You are such a little social bug. You have already made friends. Sigh.
This past month you really have become a Mama’s girl. It’s all about me right now and I love it. I can’t go the the bathroom without you crying for me. I have to be in your sight all the time. I will be in the kitchen cooking and you’re in the family room playing and you will look up at me and say “Mama” and I wave or say “Dagny” and then you go back to what your are doing and then we repeat this over and over again. It’s so cute. This is why it amazes me how great you have reacted to day care. You don’t cry, granted I do have to sneak out.
Erika and Emerson are here visiting for three weeks. All three of you love each other very much. Every morning while I am feeding you breakfast you point upstairs and say “Erika?, Emerson?” and when you see them you run up to them. You just adore them so much.
The Wiggles seemed to have taken a back seat, your new obsession is Sesame Street. It started with Elmo, but now you love Cookie Monster just as much. While we are watching SS you will point at the characters and call them by their names. Here are your favorites you call out to me; Elmo (which you called Elbow up until a week ago), Cookie (no Monster), Abby (you like her very much), Big Bird, and Oscar (He is your newest one, I think you like saying his name).
Regarding your speech, you are saying new words every single day. I am not even going to try and give you a list of words, I honestly wouldn’t be able to. The two new words that you use all the time correctly is “No” and “Yes”. You will shake your head and say “no” (in a french accent) when you don’t want something and say “yea” when you do. Adorable.
You are still sleeping great. We put you down at 8 pm and you don’t wake up until 7:30 – 8:30 am. I realize this is a blessing. You are still napping twice a day most of the time.
We got you your very own Betta fish this month. While we were down in Long Island you loved going to your Uncle Emeric’s office and feed his fish. We named your fish “Fish” and every morning you wave and say “Hi” to him.
You still love your books and your favorite one is still the animal book. We go through them everyday and now you say the animals name instead of asking me what they are. You love to say “Elephant”, “Lion”, “Butterfly”, “Turtle”, and “Bear” to name a few.
You are doing beautifully.
Love,
Mama
Hi guys, I haven’t checked in lately. Had a lot going on . I was amazed at how much she has grown these past few months. Too cute with Big Bird. He not only went to the zoo but had to be fastened in the stroller and also ride the carousel. Oh yea, the bookbag is biger than she is. Also like the new car. We have been on the lookout for a new car. I like this one. It is kind of the style I’ve been looking at but dont think going to get one till next spring so we have some looking around time.well talk at ya later. Keep the pictures coming Bye for now
It looks like Emerson inherited his Aunt’s artistic capabilities when it comes to photography. I absolutely love this picture of Dagny! She doesn’t look like a baby anymore, she is such a beautiful little girl.
Dagny is learning so quickly – and becoming so independent. It will be interesting to see if she hits the Terrible Two’s early or simply skips them – good luck 🙂
Happy 21 months Dagny! You are just beautiful and clearly so smart.
